We would like to share with you the latest practical information that we are encountering in our negotiations with companies regarding the provision of visas for their employees.

  1. Can a foreigner givea power of attorney to represent the employer in administrative proceedings for the issue of an employee card?
    Yes.
  2. What if the application suffers from defects? (e.g. missing signatures on accommodation documents).
    The applicant will be asked to remedy the defects in the application.
    If the foreigner has an authorised representative, he/she will be contacted through him/her. The time limit for issuing a decision does not run during this period.
  3. Who handles the application?
    Department of Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior.
  4. What is the legal deadline for processing an employee card application?
    60/90 days from the date of application.
  5. How can I find out the result of my application?
    The foreign national is informed by the embassy that submitted the application.
    Status of proceedings: https://frs.gov.cz/ The alien or the authorised representative may ask questions about the status of the proceedings and inspect the file. The employer doesn’t.
  6. When can a foreigner come to the Czech Republic?
    After the Ministry of the Interior has issued a positive decision, the embassy will mark the foreigner’s travel document with a visa for a stay of more than 90 days for the purpose of receiving an employee card on which he/she can come to the Czech Republic.
  7. Will further demands be made of the foreigner?
    Yes. He/she must provide proof of travel health insurance until he/she becomes a member of the Czech public health insurance after commencing employment and, in the meantime, according to the protective measure of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, confirmation of the provision of health care accommodation and return.

    Immediately after a visit to the Asylum and Migration Policy Department, he or she is issued with a certificate of eligibility for an employee card, which is valid until the time of receipt of the completed card
