• The application for long-term residence for the purpose of study differs from a long-term visa in that the foreigner may stay in the Schengen area for more than 1 year and that the application may be submitted to the competent Ministry of the Interior or the Embassy abroad.
• The application for long-term residence must be submitted no earlier than 120 days before the expiry date and no later than the last day.
• The time limit for processing or rejecting a request is 60 days from the date of submission.
• A foreigner who intends to stay in the territory temporarily for more than 1 year is entitled to apply for a long-term stay for the purpose of study. Furthermore, it is absolutely necessary to observe the purpose of the stay, i.e. the purpose of the stay must be the same as the long-term study visa for which the previous visa was issued.
