All long-term residence permits and permanent residence permits are issued in the form of a biometric card containing biometric information, i.e. photographs and fingerprints. Therefore, the personal presence of the applicant is required. The process for obtaining a biometric card takes 30 days.

All initial visa applications must be made through the relevant Czech Embassy. Some nationalities can apply at any Czech embassy while some must submit their visa/residence permit application in their home country or the country where they have been issued a residence permit. Decisions on the issuance of long-term visas are issued by the competent Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, so the Czech Embassy is only responsible for the application and has no influence on the decision.

A long-term residence permit is a combination of an Employment Permit and a Residence Permit. The application must be submitted to the Czech Embassy. The process usually takes 60 days, but can take up to 90 days in special cases. Once approved, you will need to collect your visa sticker from the same embassy. Upon arrival in the Czech Republic, the applicant attends a scheduled appointment at the Ministry of the Interior, where the biometric data is collected (process within 30 days). The card is issued with a maximum validity of 2 years, but with the possibility of several extensions.

Every foreigner staying in the Czech Republic on the basis of a visa/permit is entitled to a Czech birth number, which is a unique identification number, as some services require a birth number, such as buying a car.

The aim of these programmes is to support companies in the Czech Republic and to speed up the immigration process for certain types of non-EU employees. Companies must meet certain requirements in order to apply for the project (i.e. a certain number of employees in the company, debt-free, etc.)… It is almost impossible to get a visa/permit application deadline at some embassies in the Czech Republic, so we strongly recommend applying through programs in those specific countries (e.g. India, Ukraine). Receiving the application deadline is faster and some documents do not need to be submitted with the permit application.
